PLANS by Marks & Spencer to open a new Oxford store will be approved or rejected today.

The retailer has applied for planning permission to open a new shop at Seacourt Retail Park on Botley Road.

The food and drink store would have a retail floor area of 1,264 square metres.

North Hinksey Parish Council has objected to the plan on the grounds the store could be a threat to new businesses on the West Way redevelopment.

However, planning officers have recommended the scheme be approved.

The new M&S would take the place of the existing Homebase store on the retail park.

Vale of White Horse District Council's planning committee will meet at The Beacon, Wantage, from 6.30pm tomorrow night.
