OXFORD Bus Company will put on more services over the festive period to deal with Boxing Day sales at the Westgate.

The firm has added the Park and Ride 400 service - to and from Seacourt and Thornhill - to its traditional 300 Boxing Day service - Redbridge and Peartree.

It said the success of the new shopping centre and a predicted rush during the post-Christmas sales was behind the move.

The X90 Oxford to London service will run extra late journeys on New Year's Eve to bring revellers home from the capital.

The Airline service between Oxford, Heathrow and Gatwick will continue to run on Christmas Day as in previous years.

Managing director, Phil Southall, said: "With the success of Westgate Oxford, and the expected increased footfall for the sales, we have decided to increase our services on our Park and Ride routes.

He added: "Data shows people's travel habits have changed and do use public transport on Christmas and Boxing Day and so we have adapted accordingly."

Normal services will operate on Christmas Eve with some early finishes.

On Boxing Day the 300 will run every 12 minutes and the 400 every 20 minutes.

The week after Christmas - from December 27 - all services will operate to Sunday timetables will full services resuming on New Year's Eve.
