FAITHS and communities from across the city came together for a vibrant festival at the Ashmolean Museum at the weekend.

The Oxford Hindu Temple and Community Centre got the two-day One World festival under way on Saturday with a lunchtime performance in the atrium.

A colourful start drew in the crowds, which stayed to enjoy the delights of food from around the world as well as music and yoga.

As the day wore on performances from more and more faiths added to the celebration of diversity in the city.

Oxford based composer and musician Sebastian Reynolds performed excerpts from Buddhist folklore and a Sikh Shabad - sacred song - rang out in the museum.

Yesterday festival-goers got a taste of Chinese culture by listening to the Oxfordshire Chinese Community Choir, followed by the Oxfordshire Jewish Community Choir.

Then leaders from the city's Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and Christian communities took part in a panel discussion taking questions from the audience.

An interfaith prayer space also proved popular throughout the weekend.
