THE recipient of a romantic gesture etched into a farmer’s field has been revealed.

The message to ‘Sue’ was spotted by police helicopter crews in a field just south of Tetsworth, near Thame, on Thursday.

The pilots appealed for Sue to get in touch, and on Saturday it was revealed that farmer Murray Graham had planned a romantic surprise for Sue – his wife.

But before his son George, a helicopter pilot, could go up in the air and take a picture for his mum, the police chopper spotted the quirky crop circle-style gesture.

Conspiracy theories soon began to circulate on social media including suggestions it was an iPhone X advertising campaign.
But finally Mr Graham revealed himself as the source.

He said he had sprayed his fields with some leftover chemicals, several weeks in advance, so the message could then be revealed as an apology to his wife for being moody.

He said: “I’m not quite as grumpy and old as perhaps I make out occasionally.”

“As ever, everything has its ups and downs, so I thought I’d try and make a gesture at some point, and that was the one I chose.”
