RENOWNED actor Sir Ian McKellen is to give a talk at the Oxford Union.

Sir Ian is one of Britain’s most popular actors and starred as Gandalf in the movie adaptations of JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

He will speak at the world-famous debating chamber in St Michael’s Street on Wednesday, November 8.

Sir Ian has received numerous acting awards including a Screen Actors Guild Award and two Oscar nominations.

He became a patron of Oxford Pride in 2006 and co-founded Stonewall.
