A PLAY area has been left in ruins after a suspected arson attack left equipment burnt to the ground.
Thames Valley Police has launched an 'urgent' appeal after the string of vandalism, including multiple arson attacks, at Princess Diana Park in Banbury.
The force believes vandals set alight equipment in the latest suspected arson attack at about 8.30pm on Sunday.
It comes four months after another suspected arson attack saw equipment in the Bretch Hill play area set alight.
Other incidents include damage to a play tunnel, the digging up of a soft safety surface and fences pulled down.
Investigating officer, PC Andy Baylis of the Problem Solving Team based at Banbury Police Station, said: "This incident is being treated as arson and I am urging anyone who has any information about the offence, perhaps you saw or heard anything unusual in the park last night, to contact police.
"It is extremely sad that someone would set fire to a playground which is used by many children in the local community."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
