HUNDREDS of tributes have poured in for a car enthusiast and BMW Cowley worker who lost his life after a head-on horror smash.

Mik Parslow, from Bicester, died on Thursday, a week after he collided with a van on the A4095 on August 10.

The 45-year-old was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford after being cut free from his grey Toyota MR2 by firefighters, but never regained consciousness.

In a post online his dad Eric Parslow described how his son had ‘multiple injuries from head to toe’ and how scans had found he had suffered brain damage as a result of the crash.

He said: “Even had his broken body healed there was no hope for any sort of life.

“The decision was made to remove the life support and allow him to slip away peacefully.

“He passed peacefully away with myself and family at his bedside.”

The post and many others on social media sites including Facebook have attracted hundreds of comments and tributes from friends and family of Mr Parslow, sending condolences from around the world.

The ‘petrolhead’, who worked for the past five years as a production worker at BMW Cowley, was well known to many MR2 fans for his knowledge of the cars.

Mr Parslow was a member of multiple car clubs including the MR2 owners club.

Malaysia Toyota MR-S/MR2 Club put out a statement online, which read: “The international MR2 community lost a great MR2 enthusiast. Mik owns a beautiful grey AW11.

“The Malaysian MR2 & MR-S owners would like to pay our respects to Mik Parslow who tragically passed away.

“May he rest in peace.”

Dad Eric added: “He has always been a little bit of a petrolhead and certainly the MR2 he learnt and studied – he was a walking encyclopedia on the MR2.

“When it came to the MR2 people from all over the world used to to come to Mik for help and it was rare that he wouldn’t know the answer.”

One post that was shared online has since attracted more than 200 likes and 138 comments with people paying their respects.

One commenter, Kenny Williams, posted: “Mik provided great insight, laughter, and maturity [to] all groups and will greatly be missed.”

Eric Parslow said: “It has been incredible the love and good will shared by everyone and it has certainly helped our family through this difficult time.

“In his passing he will be helping others to survive and live a better life due to organ donation, hopefully three people will benefit.”

Mik Parslow was jailed in 2011 for dangerous driving after he drove his Toyota MR2 onto the wrong side of Bernwood Road in Bicester while overtaking three vehicles and collided with a motorcyclist.

He was jailed for 10 months but released after three months on licence.
