SHOPLIFTING and purse thefts have increased in recent weeks in Botley, police officers have said.
The area’s neighbourhood team said the Co-operative food store and Tesco in the West Way shopping centre were the main targets for thieves.
In their neighbourhood update, they added: “We continue to carry out high-visibility patrols in and around the area and are working closely with shop staff to try and deter this persistent offending.
“We have had an increase of purse and wallet thefts from elderly people shopping in Botley and the surrounding areas.”
