A JURASSIC day of fun and swashbuckling pirate adventures lie in store for young visitors to Banbury Museum this summer.

Staff have been hard at work at the museum in Castle Quay preparing a range of family events throughout the holidays, including a Dinosaur Day and Water world.

On Wednesday youngsters can try out making their own clay fossil, mask or shoe box dinosaur world, complete with a T-Rex, at the first event.

Children can also go on a dinosaur hunt on a special trail around the museum, listening to stories of when dinosaurs came to Banbury.

Then on Tuesday, August 1, families are invited to join the pirates who sailed the Oxford Canal on a swashbuckling adventure at Water World.

There will be chances to make 'junk model' canal boats, create canal art and learn what life used to be like as a boatman or boatwoman.

Activities cost between £2 and £4 and are likely to be very popular; tickets are sold from the museum shop on the day and are sold on a first come, first served basis.
