ONE of Littlemore’s biggest events is to return for another year.

The annual community fun day will be held on Saturday, July 1, and will be one of the first local engagements for the new MP for Oxford East, who will be elected on June 8.

Attractions at the event at the community centre in Giles Road will include a bouncy castle, music by DJ Gary Smith, a children’s magician, face-painting and the Jubilee Brass Band.

The new Lord Mayor of Oxford Jean Fooks has also been invited to attend.

The fun day will mark the 10th anniversary of the Littlemore Community Association (LCA) as the registered charity community association for the area.

LCA chairman Anne Mogridge said: “This year, we also have Midcounties Co-operative as our co-sponsor of the sevent community fun day event.

“A special mention too to Sainsbury’s in Cowley, for the support and involvement it provides at the Giles Road community centre, and also our thanks to Oxford City Council.”

Those who attend will have the chance to take part in a raffle with prizes donated by retailers and other businesses, including a BMX bike, weekend care hire, bus and coach tickets, holidays and vouchers from Odeon, Primark and others.

Inside and outdoor stall areas have already been snapped up and the city council and other agencies will attend with information to help make the fun day entertaining and informative.

Youngsters will also be able to enjoy a visit from a real fire engine, unless it is called out to an emergency.

The event will run from midday to 4pm and hundreds of people are expected to attend based on its popularity in previous years.
