DRESSED in green tights with a hat jauntily perched on his head, Mike Dennis from Oxford Brookes University is the spitting image of folklore legend Robin Hood.

The senior lecturer in primary science at the University had decided to dress up as his alter-ego to raise money for Oxfordshire Mind.

But the 56-year-old was not alone in his fundraising efforts as around 100 students and staff joined him as their alter-egos yesterday.

Mr Dennis said: "I think it is really important, not just for young people, but for everyone to reach out and ask for help when they need it.

"Oxfordshire Mind is a fantastic charity and it is actually the students that chose it for the fundraiser because of their personal experiences with mental health.

"We definitely want this to become an annual event because it brings everyone together and strengthens our community on campus."

Mr Dennis was joined by Teletubbies, Snow White and various Mr Men and Little Miss.

Last year he had organised a similar fundraiser, but with everyone dressed as their favourite children's characters, to raise money for Sobell House.

Dan Knowles, CEO of Oxfordshire Mind, said: "We are so grateful for the money raised by Mike and his students at Oxford Brookes.

"Dressing up as alter egos is an inspired idea.

"Their contribution will provide help to some of the most vulnerable people in our society – and hopefully they will have some fun too."
