THE competition is on for this year's Strictly Oxford 2017 contestants as they tackle week four of rehearsals and discover who their partners will be.

The group of novice dancers have wonderfully waltz and jubilantly jived their way through the first few weeks of full-on rehearsals to find their feet.

Now, all contestants have been paired up with the Strictly partners and have their eyes firmly on the Strictly glitterball trophy for first prize.

Owner of Step by Step Dance school, Andrzej Mialkowski, who hosts the charity competition said: "Rehearsals are going very good. We have now partnered everybody up and also put everyone into their groups and chosen the fantastic music for the freestyle group dance.

"Everybody is doing really well and this year I have been pushing a little bit more as everybody has a lot of steps to pick up quickly, as it is a short amount of time.

"There is lots to learn but it is going well and the show is going to be great."

Dancers have now randomly chosen their group dance number for the show on Sunday, May 28, which will be staged at the New Theatre Oxford.

This includes a Jive to Jailhouse Rock, a pasodoble to Pirates of the Caribbean, a Charleston to Bang Bang, a tango to Money Money Money and a salsa to Cuban Pete.

Not all dance couples were present at the latest rehearsal, where these pictures were taken, but will join the Strictly Oxford 2017 line up.

Tickets are now on sale for the final show which will see contestants and their professional partners strut their way through the American smooth waltz, the jive and a group dance.

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Robin Windsor will be this year's star judge who will score the couples, alongside an audience vote, before one pair dances their way to Strictly success.

All couples will also be raising funds along the way for this year's charities Vale House Care Home, which specialises in dementia care in Sandford-on-Thames, and the Oxford Children's Hospital. Money raised on the night from the show will also go towards supporting both charity causes.

It will start at 6.30pm and tickets can be bought from atgtickets.com/shows/strictly-oxford-2017/new-theatre-oxford
