Homes and businesses in Kidlington have been hit by a loss of power.
Energy supplier SSE said 31 postcodes - 29 of which are in the OX5 area - were affected by the power cut.
A fault was reported to the company at 3.50pm today and the company said it expected to have the problem fixed by 6pm.
OX4 2GW and OX4 3YG have also been hit by the power cut.
The Diocese of Oxford's headquarters in Langford Locks industrial estate is among the areas affected.
Employee Tanis Brookes said: "Most people have been told to do some filing or leave early.
"I do not know how muany businesses have been affected."
She added that the traffic lights at the junction of Langford Locks and Banbury Road were not working as a result of the outage.
