AN ONLINE predator jailed for tricking teenage boys into thinking he was a woman could be behind bars for longer.

Alex Orr was caged for six years, with a four-year extended licence period, after fooling his victims into thinking they were having genuine sexual encounters with ‘Sarah Duffy’ on Facebook and Skype.

The 27-year-old’s case reached appeal court judges yesterday after the government’s chief legal adviser claimed the sentence was too lenient.

Attorney General Jeremy Wright QC can refer cases to London’s Court of Appeal as part of the unduly lenient sentence scheme, which can see sentences lengthened after review. Lord Justice Burnett, sitting at the court with Mrs Justice Carr and Judge Jeffrey Pegden QC, adjourned for ‘further investigation to be carried out’ after a short hearing in private.

Orr, of Villeboys Close, Abingdon, had admitted three counts of making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child, possession of an extreme pornographic image, two counts of inciting a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity and 10 counts of arranging or facilitating the commission of child sex offences between November 2012 and November 2015.

Orr filmed teenagers performing sexual acts he demanded while they watched pre-recorded footage of a woman pinched from the internet, believing it was streamed live. He was branded a danger to the public during sentencing at Oxford Crown Court in January.
