THE new pound coin is being rolled out today - but Oxford won't be one of the first to see it.
As the new 12-sided coin is introduced across the country, Oxford seems to have been somewhat left out.
The coin will appear in banks across around the UK, known as distribution centres, in locations including London, Birmingham, Newcastle, York and Bath.
A map has being released showing the locations the coins will appear first.
Spokeswoman for Royal Mint Jenny Manders said: "There won’t be new £1 coins in every till today, as they are being filtered out into the country via the normal cash cycle process, via distribution centres.
"We do know however that the places on our map are likely to have them – although I note that there aren’t any very near Oxford unfortunately.
"Being a big city, I’m sure it won’t be long before Oxford sees one."
If you're among the lucky few who gets their hands on a new pound coin today, let us know.
