A MAN has been banned from every pub in his town and handed a suspended prison sentence after he attacked staff who refused to let him into a pub.

Darren David Evans, 41, of Hamilton Close, Bicester, was sentenced to four months’ in prison, suspended for 12 months and given a two-year community behaviour order at Banbury Magistrates’ Court on March 3.

He had pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, one count of theft from a shop and one count of drunk and disorderly.

It came after an incident on September 1 at about 7.30pm when Evans was refused entry to a pub in Sheep Street, Bicester, before he went on to assault two members of staff.

Later on February 13 Evans was arrested for theft of alcohol from a shop in Bute Park and for being drunk and disorderly.

Evans is now banned for two years from being drunk in a public place within Bicester, from entering any public houses in Bicester or being in the possession of an open container of alcohol.

Investigating officer, Sgt Steve Willis, of Bicester Town Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Over a period of time, the behaviour of Darren Evans whilst intoxicated has worsened and despite being banned from pubs under the Pub Watch scheme, he continued to breach this.

“This culminated on the 1st September when he assaulted two members of staff in a local pub after being refused entry.

"We are pleased that upon conviction for the assault and other matters, the court granted our application for a Community Behaviour Order and we hope that the conditions within the CBO will help protect the local community from being exposed to this type of behaviour in the future."
