As we embark on the most romantic day of the year, soppy snapper Anthony Morris has shared this perfect picture he caught of a pair of young cygnets entwined in love’s embrace.
Wildlife photographer Mr Morris, who lives in Farmoor, was tramping through picturesque Otmoor nature reserve just outside Oxford when he espied the swan Romeo and Juliet out on a secluded swim.
After performing a bird ballet around the water, the young lovers came together for a kiss, their necks forming a perfect harmonious heart.
Mr Morris said: “A group of cygnets flew in, they swam about for a while then all of a sudden two of them came together like that.
“You see on the internet a lot of people take a photograph of one swan and double it up to create that heart shape, but these two really did come together.
“It’s that time of year – spring is in the air, the crocuses are coming out and I think the swans can sense it.”
Mr Morris is a bit of romantic himself: last year he and wife Margaret celebrated their 40th anniversary, and he said they always exchange at least a card on Valentine’s Day if not more.
This year, however, the day will be slightly less lovely: Mr Morris admitted he has a dentist appointment.
Hopefully Mrs Morris will be able to offer some TLC.
