WORK by Damien Hirst, who dominated the British art scene in the 1990s, will be one of the highlights of this year's Oxford International Art Fair.

The fourth annual event will take place at Oxford Town Hall from Friday, February 24, to Sunday, February 26, and is expected to attract 15,000 visitors.

Organisers say the London-based InVogue Art Gallery will bring an original Damien Hirst to the event.

More than 120 exhibitors are expected from 35 countries including the UK, and there will be paintings, sculptures, photography, illustrations, jewellery and crafts among the innovative work on show.

Visitors can talk to the artists, buy directly from the artist or commission a bespoke piece, and there will be live art demonstrations.

Another highlight will be work by urban artist Roy Tyson, otherwise known as Roy's People, whose work combines miniature figures, photography and street scenes.

Mr Tyson started out three years ago and uses his miniature figures to create situations reflecting modern surroundings.

He has recently carried out commissions for The Big Issue, Sea World, Time Out and The Royal Mint.

Joelle Dinnage of the Global Art Agency, who helps to organise the fair, said: "This year we will build on the success of each of the previous years – it will definitely be the best ever.

"We had 10,000 visitors last year and we are expecting to get 15,000 visitors this time round.

"We have an amazing selection of artists and galleries taking part this year – they are all heading to Oxford, which is a great place to hold the fair.

"The calibre of art on show will be outstanding, and, as well as having the opportunity to pick out a special piece for your home, work space or garden, there will be the chance to hear the stories behind the work and about the artists themselves.

"This really is an exciting, modern way to buy art."

The fair will open with a private view at 6pm on Friday, February 24 and continues throughout the weekend with two free full days of art and art events.

The event runs from 11am to 6pm on Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26.

Access to the fair is free but a champagne preview on Friday from 6pm to 9pm costs £10.
