A nine-year old boy is still in hospital after he was hit by a car driven by a 95-year-old man yesterday.

At about 11.55am the black Peugeot 207 struck the boy at a pedestrian crossing at Botley Road, near to the junction with Henry Road.

The boy sustained serious injuries and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital by ambulance.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition and the driver of the Peugeot, a 95-year old man, was not injured.

The road was shut after the incident while emergency services attended the scene and officers carried out their investigation.

Now, police are appealing for more witnesses to come forward and want to speak to the occupants of a Nissan Juke and a silver Audi A4 who are believed to have stopped at the crossing at the time of the collision.

Officers also want to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision and have not yet spoken to police.

Police added that no arrests had been made.
