A MAN in his 80s was pulled to the ground and robbed in an East Oxford street.
Police said the 'frightening' attack in Essex Street happened today, at about 12.20am, and the victim's wallet was taken by a man who then fled the scene.
It is possible two men were involved in the theft, who both spoke with local accents, a statement added.
Moments before the robbery, as the elderly man turned into Essex Street from Magdalen Road, a woman had asked for change and he had given her some money.
She was described as white, around 5ft 6ins, in her late 20s and of a medium build. She is thought to have had dark hair, police said.
Investigating officer PC Eva Ramirez said: “This was a very frightening incident for the victim. Thankfully he was not injured.
“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have any information which could assist with the investigation.
"Please call Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting reference 43170024779.”
