Chiltern Railways has been named among the top rail operators when it comes to overall customer satisfaction.

The operator scored 91 per cent in Transport Focus’ National Rail Passenger Survey and 90 per cent satisfaction with trains, with 89 per cent satisfaction with stations.

Nationally the percentage of passengers satisfied with their journey was 81 per cent.

The lowest ratings for overall satisfaction were given to Southern at 65 per cent, Thameslink with 73 per cent, Southeastern at 77 per cent and Great Northern at 78 per cent.

Top marks went to Hull Trains at 97 per cent, Heathrow Express at 96 per cent and Merseyrail with 95 per cent.

Chiltern Railways Managing Director Dave Penney said: “We are delighted that passengers have rated Chiltern as the UK’s top Department for Transport franchise for overall satisfaction.

“What is even more pleasing is that we are also at the top of the table for satisfaction with our trains and our stations.

“The findings reinforce our commitment to providing a high quality passenger experience.”

The survey, commissioned by Transport Focus, represents the views of 100,000 rail passengers looking at 30 aspects of service.
