A MARSTON post office is to expand its services and open for an extra 43.5 hours each week following an extensive refurbishment.

Marston Road Post Office at the Costcutter, Old Marston Road is to transform into a new Post Office Local to include additional banking services and longer opening hours.

The branch will shut at Saturday January 28 at 12.30pm for the makeover until re-opening as the new Post Office branch on February 8 at 1pm.

Once it re-opens services will be open from Monday to Saturday between 7.30am to 9.30pm and on Sunday between 9.30am and 4.30pm.

Sue Whittall, Post Office Area Manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”

Following the refurbishment the new-style branch will include manual banking services, Transcash, and Royal Mail and Parcelforce International Services. Cheques will continue to be accepted as a method of payment.

During the closure the nearest post offices are at Westlands Drive Post Office at 61 Westlands Drive, and Headington Post Office at 152 London Road.
