AN ESCAPED dog was saved by bin men after finding him running among A34 traffic.
Brody, the frightened four-year-old collie, was found by Cherwell District Council workers who were emptying layby bins along the A34.
Staff and members of the public helped positioned their vehicles to slow traffic and after a ten minute pursuit on Friday the team were able to catch up with the lost dog.
Cherwell District Council lead member for clean and green Debbie Pickford said: "We are really pleased that this drama was brought to a happy end by the fast-thinking of our street cleansing operatives and members of the public.
"It shows that Cherwell’s teams are happy to go above and beyond the scope of their normal duties to help out in a crisis, helping a precious pet get reunited with its owner."
Brody has now been reunited with its owner in West Oxfordshire, who had been search for their dog for 90 minutes.
