A 54-YEAR-OLD woman killed in a 21 car pile-up on the A40 last week has been identified by a coroner.

An inquest into the death of Deborah Blood, of Gloucester, will open at Oxford Coroner's Court next Thursday.

The incident involving 21 cars in multiple collisions happened last Wednesday on the A40 near Witney shortly before 8.25am.

Ms Blood, who was a passenger in a white Peugeot and was involved in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle, died at the scene.

A 56-year old woman also remains in a critical condition in John Radcliffe Hospital after she was struck by another vehicle when she got out of her car which had also been involved in a collision.

A number of people also sustained minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals, from where they have since been discharged.

The road was closed while officers and other emergency services attended and re-opened later in the day.

Yesterday police renewed their appeal for witnesses, with a focus on drivers who may hold dash cam footage of the crash.

Spokewoman Jessica Rodgerson said: "Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone with any dash cam footage of the incident, or anyone with dash cam footage travelling on the A40 prior to 8.25am last week.

"They would ask them to get in touch as officers conducting the investigation are trying to get a fuller picture of the weather conditions."
