TWO storytellers entertained tots at a Woodstock preschool with their Christmas-themed book.

Husband and wife children’s book authors, Adam and Charlotte Guillain, visited Woodstock Under-Fives Association (WUFA), in Recreation Road, to read from Socks for Santa.

The couple, who live in the area, read the story to about 30 children, aged between two and four, on Monday,

Manager Kate Bailey said: “Because of the age ranges it can sometimes be difficult to find something that will get all the children engaged – but they loved it.

“We decided against doing a nativity and wanted to do something a bit more outside the box, and it was just brilliant.

“It was just a very nice thing to do and there were lots of very happy children.”

The event was also a means of raising funds and boosting the preschool’s profile.

Ms Bailey, who took over in January to turn WUFA around after it was rated ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted, has already raised the grade to ‘requires improvement’. She is pushing ahead to get the preschool, which recently had its county council funding returned, a rating of ‘outstanding'.
