RAIL passengers were hit by significant disruption earlier today after a signalling fault caused delays of up to 45 minutes.

The fault between Didcot Parkway and Oxford has meant that trains were running at reduced speed with delays of 45 minutes reported along the line.

Great Western Railway said earlier in a statement: "Due to a fault with the signalling system between Didcot Parkway and Oxford trains have to run at reduced speed on the line towards Oxford.

"Train services running through these stations may be delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised.

"Disruption is expected until 6pm."

Normal service was resumed at around 4.30pm on trains in the Oxford and Didcot area.
