An Oxford man has been jailed for repeatedly raping a woman in a five-month ordeal.

Mudassar Hussain, aged 32 and formerly of Hurst Street, Oxford was found guilty on Monday of four counts of rape after a nine-day trial at Oxford Crown Court.

He was sentenced to nine years for each offence to run concurrently.

The offences all took place between July 1 2015 and November 18 2015.

Investigating officer Det Con Julia Jacobs of Oxford police station said: “I am extremely pleased that the courage of the victim has been rewarded.

“Justice has been served and I have great admiration for her and her close family.”

A victim statement read out at court described the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, as ‘delicate’ by her sister.

it also said that the health of the victim, her sister and her parents were all badly affected by the case.

The victim’s sister said: “I hope this case will encourage other victims to come forward because seeking justice should not be seen as disrespectful or negative in any way.”
