A NEW vision for Oxford Brookes' city campuses has been mapped out and could be in place within five years.

Last year the University announced plans to withdraw teaching from its Wheatley campus and invest £220m in refurbishing its Harcourt Hill and Headington sites. Now Oxford Brookes has revealed the initial configuration of the two campuses which would see the Department of Sport and Health Sciences split between them to make the most of the facilities at both.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will be brought together on a single campus for the first time at the Harcourt Hill campus.

The Gipsy Lane campus in Headington will become home to the remaining departments including the Faculty of Business and Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment which are currently based at the Wheatley campus.

Vice-Chancellor professor Alistair Fitt said: "Our vision is for two Oxford Brookes campuses of equal status, which provide excellent facilities and spaces to support the delivery of an outstanding student and staff experience.

"We will continue creating student-centred, integrated and sustainable, high quality campus environments."

He added: "When we set out our estate investment plan last year, we committed to continued engagement with our students, staff and the wider community.

"There remains a large amount of planning, discussion and decision making to be done but this latest detail on the future configuration for our Oxford campuses is an important and positive step."
