THERE was a touch of royalty at the city's Ark T Centre yesterday during a visit by the Duke of Gloucester.
HRH Prince Richard even tried his hand at the Emotion-o-Meter, where children indicate how they’re feeling that day.
The Duke, evidently, was almost feeling adventurous.
Long-time trustee at the centre in Barns Road, Oxford, Jane Wates said: “Children come in and write down how they’re feeling, and when they leave, they write it again.
“It’s interesting to see how it changes.
“The child goes home in a different frame of mind – feeling valued and important.”
HRH shook hands with more than 50 volunteers, trustees, and affiliates with the centre to learn about their diverse programmes, which span from primary school music classes, drama and theatre, arts and crafts, and knitting groups.
Tony Stratton, former High Sheriff and long-time supporter of the centre said: “Ark T is one of Oxford city’s hidden gems."
As the Duke left, he imparted words of encouragement: “It has been a great pleasure.
“You are doing all sorts of exciting things.”
