THREE experts discussed their vision for unblocking the A40 between Oxford and Witney at a seminar in the city,
The event, held at Oxford Town Hall on Thursday evening, saw three speakers discuss possible solutions to easing congestion on the road, which is used by up to 30,000 vehicles a day.
Architect and planner Raymond Hall , Roger Blake of Railfuture, and Stephen Joseph of Campaign for Better Travel, delivered talks on how to tackle the issues on the road in the wake of major expected growth across West Oxfordshire.
The speakers put forward suggestions including a new heavy rail link, guided bus routes and a tram service, with each emphasising the need for joined-up thinking across the county.
The meeting was organised by the Witney Oxford Transport Group and chaired by Witney mayor Chris Holliday.
The A40 is used by up to 30,000 vehicles every day and according to previous figures from the county council 91 per cent of eastbound users in the morning rush hour came from West Oxfordshire.
