FOUR men have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences after 'cutting through the roof of a lorry' on the A40 near Headington.
Police were called to the A40 between Headington and Forest Hill at 9.20am today following reports a group of men had been spotted in a HGV.
A witness, who did not want to be named, said the men cut through the roof of a lorry parked in a lay-by on the road.
He said: “Four men cut their way out of the roof of a lorry and walked up to a food van, the A40 Burger Bar, and just said ‘London’.
"Somebody pointed them in the direction of London and they disappeared. They were heading in the direction of Oxford services.”
The man said the lorry driver was left to repair the roof of his vehicle in the lay-by after the incident.
A spokesman for the police said officers are now working with immigration authorities.
