Fifteen men have been arrested after a lorry carrying nineteen illegal immigrants was stopped by police near Bicester.

On Wednesday evening an articulated lorry was pulled over by police on the A41 entering Bicester.

Immigration Enforcement were called to the scene at 7pm and arrested 15 males on suspicion of entering the UK illegally.

A family of four, meanwhile, which included two children, have been released.

A Home Office spokesperson confirmed that the 19 people were from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Jessica Rodgerson, spokeswoman for Thames Valley Police, said: "We were called at 5.47pm to a report that there were people in the back of a lorry on the A41, Bicester.

"We arrived and arrested a man on suspicion of immigration offences. He has now been released with no further action.

"Police have been supporting immigration authorities."
