AN OXFORDSHIRE film maker will celebrate three of her films being shown in the same month for the first time in her 30-year career.

Sharon Woodward's films have ranged from documentaries on ancient mirrors to offering insights into rare degenerative diseases.

Next month, films More Than Just A Mirror, From Pizza to Piste and People Like Me, will air at two different film festivals across the world.

Ms Woodward said she enjoyed making short films to send a message and raise awareness of issues around the globe.

She added: "This has never happened to me before.

"I would like to think I could chose which one I liked filming the most, but they are all very different.

"I'm quite specific about the subjects I choose.

"I have to get a voice and I feel some sort of responsibility for getting a message out there.

"If it can create debate of raise awareness in an area, it's really beneficial."

Ms Woodward who lives in Headington, but is from Banbury, picked up an award for her work on More Than Just A Mirror, a short documentary with The Oxfordshire Museum and Museum Resource Centre about an Iron Age bronze mirror dug up in Didcot.

The mirror was found by a metal detectorist in a field near Didcot in 2006.

The film will be shown on Saturday, September 10 at the Portobello Film Festival in London along with From Pizza to Piste - a short film made with the Ataxia-Telangiectasia society.

The society raises awareness and funds to support people with the progressive genetic condition which causes severe disability and is life-limiting.

From September 2 to 6 at the Ferfilm International Film Festival in Albania, a follow on from From Pizza to Piste - People like me - will be shown.

The second film offers an insight into the lives of people with the condition on a daily basis.

A-T is so rare that it affects about four in every million children - there is currently no cure.

Mrs Woodward said she was having a break from film making for the time being, adding she had found making the three films "very rewarding".

She added: "I have been really fortunate to be able to make these films.

"I'm about to start teaching courses in Oxford and at the Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot."
