SECURING two A* and two A grades at A-Level is more than most pupils could ever dream of achieving.

But Cherwell School pupil Graham Mogridge from Rose Hill did it while caring for his mum Fay, who suffers from multiple sclerosis.

The 18-year-old will now go on to study politics, philosophy and economics at Pembroke College, Oxford.

He said: "I was not expecting that at all, I was expecting Bs and I got all As.

"It's such a relief, all summer I have been thinking about what is going to happen next year.

"Growing up in Oxford I have passed all the of the colleges on my way to school. To know that now I am actually going is amazing.

"I'm so, so chuffed."

Graham, who lives with Fay and dad David, said his parents were "really pleased" and proud of his results.

The youngest of three sons, he achieved his spectacular grades in geography, computing, maths and economics.

The teenager added: "I care for my mum with my dad, who is a carpenter, and my brothers.

"She has been sat at home waiting for me to call her and tell her, but she knows I have got in and she's really pleased for me."

Teacher Helen Fisher said the student had come through so much and added he was a "lovely, lovely lad".

She said: "He has worked so hard despite all the difficulties. No matter how many problems, he's come into school and worked so hard and it's paid off for him."
