The sky was alight in the early hours Friday morning as Perseid meteor shower rocketed above Oxfordshire.
Many residents tried to get a picture of the phenomenon but one Witney photographer resident, Neil Hanson, had to travel further than most to capture the breath-taking moment with his 14-year-old daughter in tow.
He said: “My daughter had never seen a shooting star before so it was her first experience.
“We were coming back from holiday, and had driven five hours up the M5 to Ramsden.
“At about 2:30am, we stopped to take the picture. I used a Fuji X-PRO2 camera using a 30 second exposure.
"You just hope you get a meteor.”
Oxfordshire had favourable conditions to see the shower at the end of last week. With temperate weather and clear skies, the nearly 60 shooting stars per hour could be seen easily.
