SHE may have earned national scorn after her televised bedroom antics, but Emma-Jane Woodhams says she has no regrets about her time in the limelight.

The trainee project manager from Begbroke hit the headlines earlier this month after appearing on the controversial ITV show Love Island, in which she was filmed having sex with fellow contestant Terry Walsh.

The couple's passionate romp, in front of other islanders, was screened to millions of viewers and landed ITV with a stream of complaints.

But in an interview with the Oxford Mail, the 19-year-old insists she had no regrets about the experience, and said her family and friends have been behind her all the way.

She said: "Everyone's been asking me if I regret it, and I did ask a couple of the other girls about it at the time.

"It was something that people had done in there before. In hindsight though maybe we should have snuck off to the bedroom on our own instead.

"I've been out in Kidlington since I got back and everyone has been really supportive and said that I did them proud, and that I came across well.

"My family were supportive and stood by me as well.

"They understand that I'm young and they cannot understand what it is like in there."

Miss Woodhams went onto the show after ex-boyfriend Tom Powell became a contestant, but when she arrived at the island she was 'paired' up with current partner Mr Walsh.

Speaking about her arrival on the island, Miss Woodhams said: "Because my ex-boyfriend was on the show one of the producers approached me to find out how I would feel about joining.

"It was very quick, I filled out an application and went out pretty much straight away.

"When I went in there were really difficult circumstances. You don't have any contact with the outside world.

"I couldn't ring any of my friends and I did feel quite isolated. In the first few days everyone was really approachable though."

While on the island contestants are constantly filmed and listened to by cameras, with the day's events then being shown on the ITV show.

Miss Woodhams, who went to the Marlborough School in Woodstock, said: "It is strange being watched 24 hours a day."

Going forward, the Begbroke teenager, who works for consultancy firm Inside Out Development in Bicester, is looking to apply for a degree in quantity surveying at Oxford University.

But after having her taste of celebrity life, Miss Woodhams admitted she has received "several offers" since appearing on the show.

Since the show ended she has also been seen out shopping with Mr Walsh in London, and she admitted the couple are "very happy" with how their new relationship is going.

She said: "It's been crazy. It's changed my life completely and I really don't know what's going to happen over the next few months.

"At the moment I'm just going to be taking it one day at a time."
