A PROJECT to teach youngsters about dance and performance at Larkmead School came to a fabulous conclusion with the Telling Stories festival.

Year 7 students at the Abingdon school have worked with pupils from four local primary schools as part of the Arts for All Partnership project, which launched in April.

Storytellers from Larkmead visited each primary school and the youngsters then produced their own collective class story to be retold using art, dance, drama and music.

On Wednesday the pupils from Carswell, Caldecott, Marcham and Thameside schools put on performances featuring the stories they had written over the course of the scheme, including a unique take on the Lewis Carroll nonsense poem Jabberwocky, which was chosen by pupils from Carswell Primary School.

Larkmead School has a strong focus on drama and the performing arts, with drama clubs running for pupils from Year 7 to Year 13.

The school's drama curriculum aims to offer pupils a diverse and well-rounded education where elements of text, improvisation, theatre genres, topical issues, drama and design techniques are all addressed.
