LAW students from Oxford Brookes have won a national mooting competition for the third time in five years.
This year's team of James Fennemore and Jonathan Goddard saw off students from Liverpool John Moores University in the grand final at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.
They took home the ESU Essex Court National Mooting Competition title, which is entered by teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The winning duo pocketed £1,000 each as well as another £1,000 for the Oxford Brookes school of law for future mooting competitions and the silver mace trophy.
Mr Fennemore and Mr Goddard will now go on to represent the UK in the Commonwealth Mooting Competition in Melbourne in 2017.
It comes after Brookes students Nicole Kapu and Duncan Graves won the same competition last year.
Principal lecturer in law and university teaching fellow Marc Howe said: "In the last few years our school of law’s reputation for national mooting success has grown significantly, so it is fantastic to see this success continue.
"We were delighted to win this prestigious competition last year and back in 2012, so to win again this year is a great achievement for the students and a testament to their hard work and skills as future lawyers."
Mooting is the traditional method which introduces students to courtroom advocacy.
