THE first ever combined Leys Festival and Horticultural Show brought in hundreds of people to enjoy the fun at Blackbird Leys Park.

The festival and horticultural show came together between noon and 4pm on Saturday, giving families a chance to get involved with rock-climbing, martial arts, dancing, yoga, and other activities.

Among those who enjoyed the day was six-year-old Gabriela Pereira from Blackbird Leys.

She said: "I had a fantastic day."

Mum Lois added: "Gabriela had a brilliant day, she tried to win a teddy bear and she enjoyed the rock climbing."

A number of organisations attended the event, including Thames Valley Police and the Oxford Polish Association.

Agata Gorniak took samples of Polish bread around the park to let people try out the East European delicacies.

She said: "People have been very impressed by the good food and asked us where they could buy it.

"We have got some business cards and we have handed them out telling them to find out more about us and what we do in Blackbird Leys."
