THE FINAL touches are being put in place as historic motors roll into Bicester for this weekend's Flywheel Festival.

A host of vintage vehicles and aircraft will fill the former bomber station at Bicester Heritage for the two-day event.

Now in its second year, the festival will be double the size of the inaugural event and even welcomes motor racing legend Sir Stirling Moss as a special guest.

Flywheel Festival founder Duncan Wiltshire said: "It is all coming together very well and we are all as you can imagine running at a million miles to bring together all the final pieces.

"I think it is going to be considerably bigger with double to number of cars being shown.

"We have Sir Stirling Moss coming both days with a number of his famous cars including the Grand Prix winning Jaguar as well as the Lotus, in which he says was his best ever victory.

"We have everything from the 1901 steam cars to the 1960 Ferrari then everything in between.

"Then there will be a good number of aircraft too including the Dakota Catalina seaplane so that will be quite a lot of fun."

Gates open to the public from 10am and displays, performances and track parades will continue until 6pm.

Mr Wiltshire added: "We have 50 car clubs, which we did not have last year, and another very exciting element new this year is the live tank demonstration arena.

"It is all about movement for us at Flywheel plus the huge display of military vehicles and for families the vintage trade market and funfair.

"The whole event is reflecting what is the most fabulous time warp location that is Bicester Heritage – it is contagious.

"This year they will also be opening up the buildings for our visitors to walk around as well.

"All the businesses at Bicester Heritage site very well alongside one another and the community and its great to see so many come on board with flywheel."

A new partnership for this year is with nearby designer shopping outlet Bicester Village and was launched by former race car driver and TV presenter Amanda Stretton.

The agreement will see a shuttle bus to take visitors between both sites.

Day tickets are £28 on the gate and parking is free for ticket holders. For more information see flywheelfestival.com
