A man has been taken to hospital after a fire at a ground floor in Headington last night.
Headington and Quarry county councillor Roz Smith said the emergency services were called to Alison Clay House in New High Street.
She said: "I was told that the fire was started in a bedroom and that police are investigating how the fire was started.
"The gentleman was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation but I don't think he was seriously hurt."
She added that all residents were evacuated from the home.
Michelle Archer, a spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service, said:
"We sent two rapid response units and an ambulance crew and a man in his 70s was treated for smoke inhalation before being taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital."
Three crews attended - from Rewley Road in Oxford and the Slade in Headington.
Paul Smith, a spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, added: "There was a small fire in a ground floor flat.
"Firefighters used breathing apparatus.
"There was one male casualty who needed to be passed to the Ambulance Service. He was suffering from smoke inhalation."
