KEEN cooks in Oxford could be cast for a hit television show.

Producers of Come Dine with Me have encouraged residents in Oxford to audition for a spot on an upcoming episode.

The show, broadcast on Channel 4 on weekday evenings, brings together strangers for a week of dinner parties hosted at each of their houses.

Diners score the chef every night, with the winner walking away with a £1,000 cash prize.

Isabel Williams, casting manager for the programme, said: "We are on the lookout for men and women of all ages and professions to take part in the Oxford edition of the show. The ideal candidate is someone with a love for food and entertaining, energy and strong opinions.

"The new episode takes place over four days with four individuals from all walks of life.

"If you are fun-loving with a passion for food, we want to hear from you."

She said anyone within 45 minutes of the city is welcome to apply, providing they are over the age of 18 and are available to film between August 8 and 12.

In January a clip of Oxfordshire resident Peter Marsh throwing a tantrum on the show went viral, after he ordered the winner to leave his house.
