DRAGON'S Den panellist and former Oxford Brookes student Sarah Willingham was the special guest at the University's first ever Founders' Day.

The entrepreneur's appearance marked the official end of the University's 150th anniversary celebrations.

The day, which paid tribute to those who founded the institution as the Oxford School of Art in 1865, will become an annual event from now on with a guest lecture.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Alistair Fitt said: "As our 150th anniversary draws to a close, it seems fitting that our final celebration pays tribute to those who set the foundations and ideas which enabled the School to become the internationally-recognised University it is today."

The TV star graduated from Oxford Brookes in 1996 having completed two business degrees.

Before her talk on Tuesday Tim Stevenson OBE, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire sealed a time capsule containing a selection of items which represent what the University is like in 2016.

It included sporting medals, representations of Brookes’ research, memories of last year’s Brookes People Awards and a student guide to Oxford.
