1. Burglars drove a car through the post office of a Drayton post office and raided the shop

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw a driver "eratically" fleeing Drayton Post Office after smashing into the front of the shop.

Thames Valley Police officers chased the car following the crash at around 3am and arrested man on suspicion of burglary and dangerous driving.

The silver Honda Accord zoomed off through Abingdon and Wootton, where it forced a motorcyclist to stop, then fled onto the A420. Police caught up with it in Ducklington.

The force said "a small amount of alcohol" was snatched during the burglary.

A 35-year-old man from Oxford was arrested and remains in custody.

2. The family of Sheldon Thomas have paid tribute to their "loving son" 

The family of "loving son" Sheldon Thomas have paid tribute after he died in a car crash.

The 30-year-old from Northway died in hospital after the black Volkswagen Golf he was driving hit a tree in Parks Road at 5am on Monday morning.

Police issued a tribute this morning on behalf of his family, which said: "The family of Sheldon Thomas, who was aged 30 years old said he was a loving son and is sadly missed.

"The family wish to express their thanks to all the family and friends that have shown their support during this sad time.

"The family wish to have their privacy respected and time to grieve as a family and have asked if anybody has any information regarding the collision to call Thames Valley Police."

3. A manhole cover on Folly Bridge overflowed and cause sewage to spill on the street

Sewage flowed across Oxford's Folly Bridge this morning after a manhole cover came loose.

Traffic has been slow across the bridge all day after the leak early this morning.

Thames Water spokeswoman Becky Trotman said the spill was caused by fat blocking the sewers.

4. Oxford is set to have higher temperatures than Ibiza over the weekend

It is all about blue skies and sunshine for the next few days as Oxford is expected to be hotter than Ibiza over the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to rise to 18C today according to the Met Office and up to 23C by Sunday - compared to the forecast in Ibiza of light rain and highs of 18C.

The government also put out a warning yesterday of "dirty air" from the Continent set to hit Oxfordshire and Southern England today.

The Department for Enivornment, Food and Rural Affairs said "moderate" air pollution while strike the county and much of England and Wales.

5. The Bowlplex at Ozone Leisure Park is to receive a £500,000 refurbiushment

The Bowlplex at Ozone Leisure Park is set to receive a £500,000 refurbishment and be relaunched as a Hollywood Bowl next month.

Work has already begun on the site near Blackbird Leys, which will be completely rebranded. It will stay open throughout but officially relaunch as Hollywood Bowl on Thursday, June 16.

It will include a new American-style 'Hollywood Diner' serving burgers, gourmet hotdogs and freshly-made shakes in milk bottles and retro glasses. One of the booths will be inside a vintage pink Chevy car.
