TURNER & Townsend has been named as the firm chosen to carry out Oxford Brookes’ dramatic £130m revamp.

The makeover will involve the demolition of the existing main hall and lecture theatre, construction of a new hall and the re-planning of the forecourt and car park at the Gipsy Lane campus in Headington.

It is part of a 10-year improvement plan.

“The big challenge is to continue to deliver cost-effective schemes off the back of such success with the John Henry Brookes building.”

As part of the appointment, the firm will be carrying out the design from start to finish and will revamp both the Sinclair and Clerici Buildings in Headington.

The Clerici building, which will cost £20m to refit, will become the new home for the Faculty of Business – expected to move from the Wheatley Campus by 2017.
