UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage and former Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg will clash in Oxford tonight during a debate on Britain's membership of the European Union.

The political heavyweights are due to appear at the Oxford Union at 8.30pm

Mr Farage will be joined by Sir William Cash MP, chairman of the House of Commons’ European Scrutiny Committee, and Mr Clegg - the former Deputy Prime Minister - will be joined by José Manuel Barroso, the former prime minister of Portugal and recently retired President of the European Commission.

The motion being debated is "this house Believes Britain and the EU are better together".

It is not the first time Mr Farage and Mr Clegg have debated the EU.

In the run-up to the European Parliament elections last year, they also went head-to-head in two television debates.
