FANS of ghoulish goings-on on the silver screen are in for a frightful time after a new horror festival was announced at Phoenix Picturehouse.

The Jericho cinema screened the first film of the three-week event – Exhibit A, a low budget psychological horror – at midnight last night.

It will be followed by Unfriended on Friday, November 6, Ringu (The Ring) on November 13, and The Blair Witch Project on November 20.

It follows on from successful late-night screenings in previous years with cult classics such as Pulp Fiction and The Big Lebowski.

Festival curator Ben McSeoin said: “I’m delighted to be screening this selection.

“It has been a dream of mine for many years to bring this to the Phoenix, to our members and audiences who want broad, diverse and challenging features.

“I have chosen the four films carefully to entice all audiences – those, at the time, too young to have experienced their original cinematic outings and those willing and brave enough to relive them.”
