DUALLING the A40 between Oxford and Witney will be considered again by transport bosses as they ask the public for radical ideas to tackle growing levels of traffic.
Oxfordshire County Council is launching a new consultation on Saturday, which will set out the options for the busy main road.
The local authority has already proposed £35m of improvements, including a new park and ride facility served by a dedicated bus lane running into the city from Eynsham. But it said this could clear the way for further work, with dualling the carriageway, putting in place a full-length bus lane or guided busway, as well as a tram or train services all on the table.
Council leader Ian Hudspeth said it was also possible that a combination of the options could be taken forward, with funding bids made to the Government.
He said: “The longer-term solution for the A40 corridor will require ambition and creativity, and we want to hear from local people once more about what form that should take.”

There will also be four exhibitions over the next two weeks. They are on Saturday at the High Street Methodist Church in Witney, from 10am to 4pm; next Wednesday, from 4pm to 8pm, at County Hall, Oxford; Cassington Village Hall on Friday, October 9, from noon to 7pm, and Eynsham Village Hall the following day from 10.30am to 4pm.
