THE cast of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels toasted their arrival at the New Theatre this week with a glass of bubbly.

The critically-acclaimed musical, which performed to crowds in the West End earlier this year, is based on the film of the same name starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin.

Michael Praed, who is best known for his TV roles including Dynasty, and Mark Benton, who starred in Waterloo Road, say it is one of the best musicals you will see.

Mr Benton said: “It’s the best show on the road.

“It’s got a bit of everything for everyone and has some big, glitzy numbers.”

Mr Praed, who was last at the theatre for The Sound of Music in 2010, said it was ‘lovely to be back’.

He said: “It’s great to return to Oxford, it’s a lovely city.

“I defy anyone not to enjoy the show. Come along and you will have a great time.”

The show, which also features Noel Sullivan, who was last at the New Theatre in Rock of Ages, and former Hollyoaks star Carley Stenson, transports the audience to the French Riviera. There, the decadent world of conman Lawrence is set to come crashing down.

The show runs at the New Theatre until Saturday.
