ELISE and Macy Claire are a street dancing sister act taking the dance world by storm.

The pair, aged 19 and 10, from Blackbird Leys, have danced across Europe and won dozens of trophies.

They both joined KCs School of Dance, based at Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre, when they were just each three years old and have excelled.

Macy, a pupil at Pegasus Primary School, has become one of the youngest members of England’s hip-hop dance team.

She will be competing at the International Dance Organisation championships in Italy in October, where 3,000 dancers from 33 countries will be going for gold.

The youngster was chosen to represent the nation by Street Dance International, an organisation based in Luton of professional teachers and dancers who teach or have an interest in street dance.

The family is no stranger to the contest, as Elise also joined the team at the age of 11. She is now a scholarship dance student at The Wilkes Academy of performing arts in Swindon.

Their mum Lisa, 40, said: “Macy is so ambitious and works so hard. She has her sister to look up to.

“She just grew up around dance and wanted to do it as well.

“We let her join in when she was three but it turns out she’s talented as well.”

While Lisa, a home improvement administrator, is not a dancer, she has always encouraged the girls.

The Field Avenue resident said: “I am a single parent and this just shows anything is possible.

“People judge you if you live on a council estate or are a single parent, but my girls have always been brilliant. They’re A-grade students and they are so committed.

“I’m very proud of both of them, there’s a big age gap but they are really supportive of each other.”

Elise said: “When you dance, you can just let go. It takes you away from anything that’s going on.

“If I’m upset or stressed about anything I can let it all out through dance.”

She said: “I went to competitions across the world, in Denmark and Poland and Germany.

“I’m so proud of Macy.

“She’s worked so hard and it’s nice to see her following in my footsteps and doing what I did nearly ten years ago.”

Speaking about her mum, she said: “She’s been so supportive, anything I’ve ever wanted or needed for dance she got me.

“She hasn’t ever missed seeing me dance.”
